Join Calisto Encinal for a tour of his immersive, interactive Mexican village. Created for first-year university students, the space provides a place for role-playing, class meetings and self-correcting activities. Attendees will learn more about this exciting use of virtual worlds for language education and explore the potential of a rich environment for creating a truly interactive classroom.
James T. Abraham [Calisto Encinal] teaches Spanish at Glendale Community College in Phoenix, Arizona. He has been working in Second Life since 2006. His project, Mi casa es su casa, won the SLPro Content Creators Challenge in 2010. The project features a house, school, bakery, hotel, pharmacy, cathedral among its locations. It includes spaces for role-playing, self-correcting activities and bots with artificial intelligence.
