NEXT-TELL is a European research project that deals with advanced IT-usage in the classroom for providing formative assessment to the learners. talkademy contributes its experience with using virtual worlds and plays a leading role in developing and deploying learning scenarios and assessment methods. As the target group are secondary school students, OpenSim will be used. In this talk we will give a short overview of the project and our approach how to use it in schools (doing pan-European project work).
Gerhilde Meissl-Egghart is a free-lancer in the field of educational technology and co-founder of http://talkademy.org, a not-for-profit organisation, that engages in using and creating virtual environments for learning purposes.
talkademy.org services universities, companies and individuals with learning events using Second Life and is a frequent partner in European projects (Avalon, Talk-with-me, NEXT-TELL, euroversity).
Before starting talkademy.org, Gerhilde gathered about 10 years of professional experience in software engineering, project management, quality management and training.
She holds a degree in computer science from the Technical University of Vienna, is a Certified Quality Manager of TÜV Akademie Österreich and received a Montessori diploma from the Institut für aktives Lernen, Vienna.
Gerhilde lives with her family in a small village near Vienna, Austria.
