Kia Ora everyone, SLExperiments activities are picking up again after the busy SLanguages 2011 and other events.
Come and join us next Friday at 7pm GMT, 8PM CET and 11AM SLT on Edunation Webheads HQ. Dante's Inferno is on the programme!

If people feel that a one-off Saturday same time (rather than Friday) for the visit is better, please let me know and  I will reschedule. Please comment on this discussion or on the wiki :  ;)

Paris is striking again with one of their fabulous choreographies ... in the catacombs! If you want to see an unbelievable show coupled with a visit to the catacombs, join me next Friday 26 7pm GMT, 9PM CET and 12PM SLT in Paris (slurl). I have put a sign with a notecard in both French and English (scroll down) on my plot (slurl) next to the Webheads' HQ, and added some information on the SLexperiments calendar.

An event not to be missed!!!! Contact me if you need more information otherwise.

Hi - Thanks to Mary for running a great session (lunch time).

Just a quick reply ref BB -  I've used Dapci Plus (just in stuff I've bought), and it can be very annoying.  For some reason the box (which has to be rezzed but hidden) flies around the area from time to time.  So there you are, sitting drinking a cup of (virtual) tea, and BAM --- whacked in the back of the head by an invisible flying box.

I share Mary's love for BB - but I or it have done some very strange things - blow up a tower that has never been seen again, lose a couple of versions of my cottage, including, once, by just blowing our some electronic birthday candles that Carol had given me, trimming a hedge and losing it for ever. I agree with Kalyan, though that REZ FAUX is a walkover and much more stable. It costs, though., though, and BB is free   I learned to use BB from Nergiz helped by Carol at the beginning of SL time. Perhaaps that is why I cling to, illogically. It is part of my SL youth. Osna

Thanks for posting a recording of the session :)

I had to leave in the afternoon and I hadn't managed to get much done. The recording will be VERY helpful :)

Thanks again to Mary for her infinite patience :)

Mary, I believe, is one of the rarest SL users who believe in the efficacy of BB scripts. Personally I don't like BB scripts because they behave strangely sometimes and so in search of alternatives I have developed liking for Horizon's Holodeck and Lex Neva's REZ FAUX and DAPCI PLUS Multi Object Zero Prim Temp Rezzer for packaging and rezing stuff. They, I find, are more user friendly.

Hi Vance,

It was so great to see you working hard on the scripts!

We have two links this time because Mary added a great bit of theory on how to create a learning scenario. And these recordings by the way are the ones from the evening session not the one at lunchtime. At the evening sesson we were fewer and the recording is so much more concise, so I decided to use that one.

Personally I think Mary is one of the best SL trainers out there (next to Daffodil and Graham of course).

That was a very nice session yesterday, thank you very much.  Hope I wasn't too much trouble, but you were very patient.  I've recorded the event at http://learning2gether.posterous.com/weekly-learning2gether-event-i... and I'm waiting for Heike to send me the link to the recording so I can complete the entry.

That's good news Gwen.  I think I need this particular skill rather quickly.  :)

Ref yesterdays problems:  It might have been to do with the SLCC 2011 too.  It was very busy, and there were quite a few problems on the sim where I was with streaming etc. (Of course that could also have been down to me not really knowing what I'm doing.) LOL  For example - does anyone know how you "kick" someone off a sim without banning them?  Or do you ban and then unban them?  Sigh.  I thought I was just going to be helping newbies log in using Advanced mode, not fixing streaming video etc.

BTW - The key not speech by Mr Linden was v. interesting.  And if anyone is into photography there is a great presentation (ignore the glitches at the beginning) here:
