- I am a language trainer with an MA in Educational Technology and TESOL and the Diploma in English language teaching to Adults from the Cambridge University (DELTA).
I teach EAP (English for Academic Purposes) at at tertiary level in Turkey and the UK. I have worked as a language trainer in different countries for ten years and have taught general, business, technical and academic English at different levels to students of all ages and backgrounds.
My main interests are developing and teaching ESP courses, appropriate use of educational technology in language learning and teaching, learner motivation, and learner autonomy.
I participated in the one-year postgraduate programme MUVEnation ‘Teaching and learning with MUVEs’ funded by the EU. I am also involved in training teachers how to use Virtual Worlds, specifically Second Life, for language teaching.
I started a group for language teachers in Second Life together with two colleagues. We have over 100 members now. The SLExperiments group meets twice a month in-world. We also have a wiki where we share resources related to education in virtual worlds, especially related to language teaching. The group joined forces with AVALON in 2011 and has a discussion forum on this Ning.

New BASIC mode in SL Viewer 2
Some of you might already have read about it in the SL Educators forum. The latest version of the SL Viewer 2 has now also a BASIC mode that you can select. In fact, this is the default viewer and mode for all who sign up for a Second Life account now. How Second Life can motivate English language students

I'm a librarian at the University of Manchester and I'm researching foreign language learning in SL and its implications for resource provision in academic libraries. I am doing this work as an Arcadia Fellow at Cambridge University Library. I would like to interview people who are actively involved in foreign language learning in SL (both students and teachers) and, preferably, who also have experience of using academic libraries as part of their foreign language learning.
