Exchanges in SL

After finding myself between essays for my MA I decided to go in-world and have a look for some Japanese speakers with whom to practice my speaking. This was the first time I've ever used Computer Mediated Communication to actually practice my Japanese - before that I've either used websites with drills, books with drills or talked to real people in the real world.

AVALON Learning Event: Region full at "How to teach a language in Second Life"

Language Learning in Second Life is still a very new trade. This is why we appreciate when educators get together to exchange experiences, pitfalls and best practise. Amazing though that when scheduling this event in the middle of the day (12pm GMT) we saw a great turn-out and even rendered the 'region full'.

Ning - charging for its services

I have been reading a good deal of panic stories - including Nellie Deutsch's message - about Ning charging exorbitant fees for its services and possibly closing down. But let's wait and see what they announce on 4 May:
